Vezelay

On this location,, Saint Bernard of Clairvaux preached the Second Crusade in 1156.

The hilltop town of Vezelay is supposed to be the burial place of Saint Mary Magdalene and it was an important pilgrimage site in the middle ages. Many pilgrims on route to Santiago de Compostela started at Vezelay.
